I recently spent the weekend in Atlanta, GA and during my stay I learned about a breakfast spot called Sun In My Belly. Now, I was pretty much sold on going there at the first sight of the name, I mean seriously, NOT writing a post on The SunnyDay Mercantile about Sun in My Belly would have been an impossibility. Sunshine and Sunday Brunch are two of my most favorite things on this beautiful planet.
My decision was solidified after a quick visit to their website. I'm a sucker for good fonts, and crisp, bright food photography and they deliver both. I loved their well tailored introduction to what they do which, in addition to the cafe, includes catering and a darling Blog about food and event design.
The restaurant's vibe is local and warm, bustling yet intimate, and overflowing with clever mis-matched details like mason jars, and antique mirrors. After cappuccinos we dived into the P.B.L.T. a breakfast sandwich layered with pimento cheese, thick cut bacon, and perfectly fried green tomatoes. A dollop of scallion aioli and crusty bread made this a stacked, sloppy, salty, spicy masterpiece. Pair that with a side of cheesy grits and a mimosa and you will know what it means to have sun in your belly.
