This was said to me recently at work. The intent with which it was delivered was to motivate, inspire action, and communicate that without metrics there is no measure to your success.
A few days later the quote came back to me while I was at a particularly challenging flow class at the Body Electric. On my mat, sweaty and struggling for balance, my instructor said "Do whatever is right for your practice today." and the re-interpretation of these words came to me. Everyday is practice, it is part of the human experience, to be perfectly imperfect is what we work at everyday.
So don't keep score, just practice.
