It is the end of December and I find myself reflecting back on the year. What I can't seem to wrap my brain around is how fast 2014 flew by - pun intended - I literally spent my year at 30,000 feet. This year I boarded a plane 88 times and traveled to over 30 cities. Many I visited for the first time, making my way through the Southeast one charming stop at a time. I got the chance to see Oxford, Savannah, Tryon, Charleston and Knoxville. I also sought out new experiences in old favorites like hot yoga in Atlanta, modern art in Miami, and the perfect Sunday brunch in Washington D.C. I even managed to squeeze in a few vacations - a girls weekend in Nashville, spring break in the Bahamas, a yoga festival in Austin, and Fall in NYC.
As I tally up my miles I have an overwhelming sense of gratitude. I am so thankful for the ability to travel like this. The anticipation of what's next gets me out the door each week to catch those six a.m. flights and every time I touch down somewhere, I'm rewarded with the chance to learn something new. From my window seat I've seen the seasons and the landscapes change from above, and with each trip I see a change in myself as well.
On the brink of 2015 I'm pushing for one more adventure. For the Holidays I'll be heading South to Mexico for eighteen days. I'll be visiting Mexico City, Tulum, Merida, and Valladolid. My hope is a vacation made up of equal parts Mayan Ruins, street tacos, clear blue water, and Mezecal. What a blessing to wrap up a year of exploration with a trip like this. My hope for you Sunnies is that you find a similar joy wherever you are celebrating this year.
