Last weekend I drug my poor husband 45 minutes North of Dallas to attend the House of Quad Roller Derby Championship only to get turned away at the door because the arena had reached capacity...seriously, who would have figured. Hungry and in need of a beer we stumbled upon the
and had such a fun experience.
To start the vibe is very dialed down and relaxed. They pull off the typical Dallas "we're not trying too hard" aesthetic without actually trying too hard. Then they add on top of that a great beer selection and this one of a kind Jalapeno Cucumber Margarita that had just the right amount of heat and citrus for a blazing summer day.
Then came the burgers....
I had the Boom Boom with Love which translates to a deep fried portabello mushroom, cheese and bacon a top the most perfectly cooked burger.
Would you need any more than that?
One could ask. And One Did.
The result was this HUGE homemade Ice Cream Sandwich
(The Cookies were still warm...mmmmmm)
Our meal was such an unexpected find that it made me curious about the origins. I found out that the owner is Fort Worth local
who is know for his urban western cuisine. After our visit to the Love Shack his other restaurants Lonesome Dove, White Elephant Saloon and Woodshed Smokehouse have crept onto my must try list.
